The IRA was designed to benefit rural and red-state communities, and the reality is sinking in: Repealing it could gut economic growth in these areas. 21 congressional Republicans this past Monday signed a letter urging leadership to protect key climate/energy provisions—a growing number who are advocating to keep the IRA intact. Meanwhile, moderate Democrats face mounting pressure to negotiate away certain provisions. The margin in the House (with recent deaths and vacancies) is just 5 votes – 218R-213D.
