Health, Relinquishment, and Planetary Care with Ranae Hanson

November 14 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Join us for an engaging evening with award-winning author Ranae Hanson as we explore the intertwined themes of Health, Relinquishment, and Planetary Care. Together, we’ll reflect on the profound connections between personal well-being and planetary health, guided by stories and insights from Hanson’s book Watershed: Attending to Body and Earth in Distress.

Event Highlights:

    • The Merged Nature of Personal and Planetary Bodies: How does our bodily stress reflect the strain on the Earth’s ecosystems?
    • Navigating Overshoot and Sacrifice: When is it right to let go, and how do we choose what to relinquish?
    • Action, Despair, and Hope: Holding space for urgent action and the emotional toll of the climate crisis.

During the discussion, we’ll explore thought-provoking visuals, including The Path Between, to mirror the relationship between ecological and personal distress. Additionally, we’ll dive into stories from Ranae’s award-winning book, Watershed, including Ranae’s experience with Somali elders in their reflections on difficult choices in moments of extremity. Together, we’ll consider ways to move through these times thoughtfully and intentionally, asking ourselves: What is the most important thing for each of us to do with the time we have?
