Seeds of Legacy: A QEW Portland Fundraiser

Join Quaker Earthcare Witness on September 19th for an inspiring afternoon and evening to discuss international faith-based climate action and regional climate resilience in the Multnomah and Columbia Watershed. This event will take place following our morning Multnomah Earthcare Day of Action (register for the morning Day of Action event seperately here.)
The afternoon will start with an interactive Open House showcasing Quaker Earthcare Witness’s (QEW) national campaigns, international climate policy, and publications (w/Hors d’oeuvres!) Explore interactive displays on QEW’s extraordinary programs: from our clean energy advocacy campaign in 2025 pushing back on Trump’s assault on renewable energy, to our global wave of climate resilience work through our minigrants program and day of action, to our international climate advocacy with the United Nations and youth ambassadors program – there will be much to learn about and discover.
As evening approaches, gather with QEW General Secretary Keith Runyan and QEW Staff for a Keynote Presentation and a delicious farm-to-table vegan meal prepared by a local chef. Following dinner, we are honored to host a feature educational presentation on climate resiliency, watershed presentation and keystone species conservation (presenters to be announced).
We will conclude our event with a special presentation on regional climate resiliency in Multnomah County and the Columbia Watershed (presenters to be announced) and a closing “Planting Seeds of Legacy” ceremony – a dedicated worship session and benediction, where participants are invited to reflect on the world we wish to leave behind for future generations with seeds for all to bring home with them to make our dreams visible.
Fundraiser Schedule & Highlights
- 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Open House & Interactive Tables: Explore interactive displays and connect directly with QEW staff, regional leaders, and environmental advocates across multiple feature tables.
- 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | QEW Keynote and Main Event: Updates on national Quaker environmental initiatives, the QuakerEarth Action Map, and regional campaigns with QEW General Secretary Keith Runyan and other presenters.
- 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Farm-to-Table Vegan Dinner & Music: A fresh meal prepared by a local vegan chef alongside live music.
- 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Planting Seeds of Legacy: A special presentation on regional climate resiliency in Multnomah County and the Columbia Watershed will be given (presenters to be announced), concluding with Planting Seeds of Legacy – a dedicated worship session and benediction, where participants are invited to reflect on the world we wish to leave behind for future generations with seeds for all to bring home with them to make our dreams visible.
Registration: We are suggesting a donation of $50-$100 for dinner and the full evening. Friends under the age of 35 are welcome to pay as led, or join us at no cost. Friends are welcome to make additional donations before, during, or after the event. This helps us cover the basic costs of the event. We are grateful for your support and look forward to our evening together!
