2024 UN High Level Political Forum
Virtual Side Event 1:30 – 3:00 PM (EDT)
In recognition of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent (2015 – 2024) and the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development (2018-2028), the Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW), United Nations Working Group will convene a virtual side event during the 2024 UN High-level Political Forum.
The side event will include a keynote presentation by Dwight L. Wilson, https://dwightlwilson.com/, and participant discussion on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with special attention given to Sustainable Development Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. We will:
- Review Goal 16 and other goals under consideration during the High Level Political forum;
- Review actions during the decade for people of African descent; and
- Make recommendations to achieve the shared goals of “peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet.”
