“Given that we are Quaker Earthcare Witness in these times, what is asked of us?” This query laid the foundation for QEW’s Spring Steering Commitee Meeting at Atlanta Friends Meeting April 20-22. “We came together to support each other and continue to inspire each other,” reflects QEW’s General Secretary Shelley Tanenbaum.

On Friday night, we visited with three local Atlanta climate activists, including Reverend Dr. Gerald Durley, a long-time civil rights leader who has now turned his faithful action toward the environment. He reminded us that “God gave us a powerful and ecologically balanced world” and we are its stewards. He then challenged us with a powerful message: “Climate Change is an equal opportunity destroyer. What are you going to sacrifice? What are you going to risk?”
